I am that spark of inspiration you get when all seems lost
The loving smile of a stranger that’s willingly given without cost
The sound of the loudest thunder echoing throughout the sky
To the delightful cries of a newborn; as she looks deep into your eyes
I’m the beggar you often pass all too easily in the street
As well as the wealthy tycoon you go out of our way to greet
I’m the darkest clouds in the sky, to the sun that sets alight
The beauty I’ve placed around you in the hope it might delight
I’m the first breath to you that’s given; the last you’ll ever breathe
I’m the one you turn to when all else fails - in hope of quick reprieve
I’m everything and nothing yet I’m everywhere you care to look
My love it knows no boundaries, my words often misunderstood
I’m blamed for death and destruction, for failings on your part
Your words ring out in anger, like thorns around my heart
But it’s you that do not listen, take far more than you need
Mother earth exacts revenge when she’s abused by greed
I’m the sunrise and the sunset, north, south, east and west
A moth as it becomes a butterfly, a bird that flees its nest
The elements contain me, as do you within your heart
All I ask is that you seek me; and for you to play your part
For you’re all a part of a huge tapestry I call the universe
Each unique; elemental and essential if my love is to traverse
So know that I am with you as you go about your day
But please shine your light so that others may also find their way
